With India being a strategic partner of Germany, tkMS is keen to demonstrate its expertise in the Indian market again. The market leader for non-nuclear submarines signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with MDL today on the intended construction of air independent propulsion conventional submarines.
“We look back on a trusting and decade-long partnership with India. The boats we built in the 1980s are still in service today. We are very proud of that and would be delighted to contribute to India’s national security further on. We stand ready when india calls on us.” said Oliver Burkhard, CEO of tkMS.
With the signing of the MoU tkMS lays the foundation for a possible cooperation with MDL to compete in the tender of the Indian Navy.
